About the event

Low Winter Sun

A Victoria based, four piece rock band that prominently features a cellist as a core band member. Reviewed as "beautifully loud," with two singer/songwriters that embrace melody and harmony but also like to make some noise. The band was founded in 2019, but all its members had been playing and writing together for many years before that. You can hear that familiarity in the way they play off each other. Whether live or recorded, Low WInter Sun leans into the organic sound of musicians vibing together. The music has hints of Canadian rock acts like Neil Young or Blue Rodeo but they're definitely their own thing. They're currently working on their second studio album, with the first new single already out.

14 Flamingos

Retrofuturist rock 14 Flamingos are the soundtracks to your bad decisions and the lawn ornaments on your walk of shame. A community and a collective of musicians, who work with dancers, artists and circus performers to bring the weird and wonderful to the stage. Combining sounds of art rock, nu-wave. surf rock, burn barrel barber shop quartets, and lost n found 33s in forgotten roadside thrift stores. Singer, songwriter, and storyteller Steve Craik is joined by long time friend, collaborator and drummer Brendan Pye, Alex Moore on keys and synth, Jeff Birmongham on trumpet and Josh Stull on Bass with Adam Cleland on the lead guitar. There are two types of people in this world, 14 Flamingos are the other kind.
